Blood-born vampire Luca Ambrus is an agent for the Council, the centuries-old clan that governs the vampire race. When a leading Council member is murdered, Luca investigates, eventually uncovering a group of rogue vampires determined to overthrow the Council and humankind. In an effort to defeat the rebel vamps, Luca teams up with Chloe Fallon, a human able to channel spirit warriors and thus protect people from vampires. As Luca and Chloe work together, a passionate romance develops.
