After a long week of work on the farm, Yitzi and owner Sarah are ready to rest on Shabbat (Jewish Sabbath). When Sarah experiences hard times, she sells Yitzi to neighbor Ruthie. Ruthie doesn't observe Shabbat, and Yitzi shuts down as usual on that day. Ruthie learns why, and she and Sarah begin farming together with Yitzi and also observing Shabbat. They learn that working together and resting on Shabbat makes farming easier and more profitable.
