WJCT's National Parks of the First Coast and Golden Isles portrays the national parks of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia as the prototype of how our national parks helped shape our communities and bring the communities together. We learn the stories of the people who devote themselves to maintain the struggle to preserve these sacred lands. National Parks of the First Coast and Golden Isles features living examples of some of the best things our national parks have to offer; spectacular natural landscapes and places that reflect our diverse culture and heritage. Featured stories include the struggle and meanings of freedom at Kingsley Plantation, the battles over territory at Castillo de San Marcos, Fort Matanzas, and Fort Frederica; the desire for religious freedom in a new land at Fort Caroline and the struggle to maintain the natural beauty of Cumberland Island.
